5 Questions, 5 answers, well, 10 actually

This prompt is from the altogether lovely Mrs. Bean, whose posts always make us laugh. A quick Q&A for this sunny day and well-wishes of good weather wherever you are!

1. What’s your favorite movie?

Markus: The Lord Of The Rings for comfort, because everything works out the way it’s supposed to. The Shawshank Redemption as a reminder of my own power and the importance of attitude. Finally, In Bruges, to give my head a good shake.

Micah: The first Kung Fu Panda movie is my comfort movie. I have not watched it in a long time, but there was a period in my life when I watched it on repeat.

2. When trying to buy shoes, what’s your biggest problem?

Markus: My feet are rather wide, so it’s hard to find shoes that fit them in width without being too long.

Micah: I tend to want the same things so I buy the exact pair of shoes or slippers and sometimes this is challenging. Looking at you Nike Solar Soft Thong Sandals.

3. Ice cream cone or cupcake?

Markus: Can’t go wrong with a cupcake.

Micah: In this heat, ice cream. Definitely ice cream.

4. What’s one good thing you have learned about yourself during this pandemic?

Markus: That I either fill my entire day with meaningful routine or completely lose touch with reality. No grey zones.

Micah: That I can very well survive without traveling and that I am able to find meaningful things close to me if I only pay attention.

5. Any eccentric people in your family? Discuss.

Markus: Yes, me. We’re all stubborn, but I was always at odds with doing what everyone does. While I started off just being an edgy brat, I think it has served me in the long run.

Micah: I think it is me in my family. I am always a little bit off, especially when it comes to my way of thinking and lifestyle. For example, Filipinos are traditional, religious, and extremely family oriented whereas I am not. I also like wearing a shark onesie.

If anyone else is interested, here are some of our questions to possibly save you from your next blogging subject rut:

1. When do you like yourself the most?

2. If you are in charge, how would you improve the COVID-19 policy of your city?

3. What would you do if you had all the money in the world?

4. Here is a time machine. But it only goes one way and back. Do you head to the past or future?

5. If you could wish one thing away in the world, what would it be apart from the current pandemic?

Looking forward to reading your answer, friends!

      1. Late reply as always, but we got an inflatable pool for the kiddo. And at least we’re getting cloudy skies and cool winds nowadays. Mango or green tea ice cream for me💚🍦

        1. We thought about getting an inflatable pool so we can drag it to our other land, too. Haha! When the situation eases a little bit, come up for a drive here! I dream about listening to you talk about books and writing and other nice things. Mango is super nice. We enjoy mango frozen yogurt a lot.

  2. This is fun…
I do not have any issues with shoes, except that maybe I want too many. 😁 I would choose a vegan cupcake. 😀 During the pandemic I have learned that I enjoy working from home. 💗

  3. Being quirky and different is a super power, in my humble opinion. Go for it!
My answers: (1) Princess Bride. First saw it while traveling alone in Glacier National Park, at a tiny motel I stayed at. (2) Like Marcus, I have wide feet, with a high arch, so hard to find a good fit. I usually buy men’s sizes (which means no heels :-)). (3) Ice cream. Better yet, frozen yogurt. Coffee flavor, either type. (4) I’ve learned I’m happy in my introvert’s world; not much changed for me. (5) I’m definitely the eccentric one, which means I’m always in demand at family gatherings because I have the most outlandish stories to share!

so something weird is happening when I try to comment on your blog. It doesn’t happen to me elsewhere. My comment does not link to my blog. Sometimes my comments won’t post🤷🏻‍♀️

  5. Ha- I identify with wide feet. Especially here in Japan where everyone else seems to have fairy-feet. Makes me miss life on Saipan where all I ever wore were “zories”. Flip-flops in English.
I wonder if my comment links to my blog now? If not:

    1. This is the first time I heard fairy-feet. It sounds nice. I cannot check if your username can be clicked now but will definitely update you once I am on my computer. Thanks for the link!

  6. 1. When do you like yourself the most?
I like myself the most when the people around me are happy because their emotions affect me and so I’m better when they are.
    2. If you are in charge, how would you improve the COVID-19 policy of your city?
I’m not sure what I’d change. It seems to me that they’re doing everything they possibly can to help everyone.
    3. What would you do if you had all the money in the world?
If I had all the money in the world, I spend my days trying to give everyone equal amounts.
    4. Here is a time machine. But it only goes one way and back. Do you head to the past or future?
I think I’d head to the future. It’d be good to know how the choices I’m making now will affect my future.
    5. If you could wish one thing away in the world, what would it be apart from the current pandemic?
I would wish away a certain memory that I have. Something I very much wish I could forget.

Haha. Same… …how does the Solarsoft thong feel on your feet? Is it better than Crocs or Havaianas?

    Like

    1. At least to me it is better. Light and soft. Perfect for post-training when I can no longer lift my feet. Been using it for a long time now. Havs feels hard on my feet, and I have never worn Crocs.

      1. You are right, Havs feels hard on the feet… Crocs flip flops are so good, but not as light perhaps… I see the Solar Thong on display always, I never bought because it’s mahal 😀

          1. Hahaha. Same. My wardrobe had the same things over the years.. the only reason I buy new things is because they no longer fit 😀
And especially since you’re by the beach + you travel a lot, good flip flops is a must.

            1. I like your wardrobe that I learned from your blog post. What I want to do next actually is shift away from synthetic clothes and only buy those made from natural fiber and are sustainably produced. Luckily, I quickly connected with one producer and am discovering others. And yes, I live in slippers, though sometimes I take it too far, like hiking in them. Haha.

  8. Love you guys! I’m with you on the ice cream, Micah! It wins every time for me…even in our Canadian winters.

Those are some seriously thought-provoking questions. I will ponder them and, if I come up with some good answers, I’ll write a post.

    1. What is your favorite ice cream flavor, Michelle? I imagine a childlike cheekiness in enjoying ice cream in the winter. What fun. And thank you – really curious about your answers. You can also comment them here, in case.

  9. 1) finishing a poem or a picture, 2) make everyone wear a mask, 3) clear my small debts and give the rest away, 4) keep it in neutral gear & stay in the present, 5) remove ALL physical/mental abuse.

    1. Oh, so artsy. In uni I had to study poetry because it did not come naturally to me like prose. What causes would you support after clearing your debt? And I don’t know why I am surprised by you not wanting to use the time machine!

  10. Thanks for answering my questions and linking to the post. Here are my answers to your questions:
    1. I have a sense of humor.
    2. Our Covid-19 policy is sound here so I wouldn’t change a thing.
    3. I’d share 90% of it with food banks everywhere, keep 10% for my own pleasure– like travel and a few homes around the world– and a new car.
    4. Into the future, please.
    5. I’d wish away compulsive liars. They do as much damage as, maybe more, than the pandemic.
