Markus and I eat plant-based meals for one reason: it is delicious. Every bite can be just as indulgent and treatly as their meaty counterparts. There is no settling or sacrifices.
In fact, we are often surprised how naughty plant-based food can be! Check out these meals that we regularly make at the tiny house and see for yourself.
1. Banana heart vegetarian burgers
How can a burger not be naughty? It is greasy, hearty, crispy, and a mess to eat. Patties out of cooked banana hearts capture this perfectly. The look is the same, the texture is the same, but it tastes better than a meat patty!
The umami or savory flavor bursts in every bite. It is moist and crispy in all the right parts. Add fresh vegetables and your favorite condiments and it will be difficult to tell you are not eating meat.
Bonus: Make it even more special and pile up mushroom tempura on top of your banana heart burgers. You will win girlfriend or boyfriend of the year 100%.
2. Double cheese grilled panini
We all love a good grilled cheese sandwich because it is indulgent. Our version has two cheeses: colby jack and our homemade ricotta.
The two cheeses complement the taste and texture of each other. It makes you want to eat more.
We love cooking it in a panini press because the grill marks are so appetizing!
3. Vegan fish and chips
You know this fish and chips will be good just by looking at it. Crispy batter, tender flesh, and warm chips – what more can you ask for in life?
The fish part is layered tofu with a sprinkling of seaweed. It is not as flaky as fish but the eating experience is similar, especially when you first bite into the light, crispy, and salty crust.
This worked out for us the first time we tried it and it was such a treat. The best part is this vegan fish and chips version does not easily go soggy.
Highly recommended plant-based meal for the next time your friends come to visit for a few bottles of beer. They will be amazed.
4. Twice baked potatoes
A baked potato is nice but why stop there? Scoop out the flesh and mix it with cheese, sour cream, and chives. Place them back on the skins and top with more cheese. Bake until golden and have a nice day!
The potato boats look so cute. We love eating it for lunch but they are perfect anytime of day, even for an indulgent breakfast. It also does not matter whether you eat twice baked potatoes warm or cold. They will taste just as nice and naughty.
Yum. Nice!

Yes! I am on the commitment to myself to have more plant-based food. But, still studies suggest we should eat Non-veg for protein!!!

Yes, balance is good. And we should eat what works for us. Protein is important, yes. Omega-3 as well as our bodies cannot produce it on its own.

I would never have thought that the words naughty and plant-based meals can go together, but you have convinced me! Also, I realized from your Instagram that the Tiny House is in Bagac? We have Titas located there as well, and we have been planning to visit. I heard the beach is really nice 💗

I had never thought of tofu as a substitute for fish, but only meat. 🙂 🙂

With seaweed, tofu does the job. Honestly, it is crazy versatile. Have you had tofu as a meat alterntive then and how did you find it?

I wasn’t keen. Personally I’m happy with eggs and cheese but my husband can’t eat cheese so that can make life tricky 😕💕

Oh, all of these just sound delicious! I need to try all of these 😋 I have learnt something new as well because I have never heard of banana heart before or is it the same as banana blossom? We have a fish and chip shop near to us that does plant-based versions using banana blossom. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s on my list!
Thanks for sharing!

Banana heart is the same as banana blossoms. How does your local fish and chip shop use banana blossoms? It sounds super interesting. Thank you for the inspiration!
